Configuring a Recovery Stage

To Add a Recovery Stage

  1. Using CygNet Explorer, click on the RSM in the service hierarchy.
  2. In the RSM pane, right-click on the service for which you want to configure recovery and click Properties.
  3. Click the Automatic Service Recovery page.
  4. Click Add to create a new stage.
  5. Check Enabled to enable the stage. If this option is not selected the stage will not be run.
  6. Type a descriptive Label for the stage (for example, "Archive and Restart"). The label is displayed next to the stage number. While optional, it aids in organization and stage ordering (19 chars max).
  7. Select the desired Action (for example, Restart). See Automatic Service Recovery Overview for a full description of each action.
  8. Select Archive if you want to copy the service files to a "recovery" folder before attempting to restart the service. See Archive for more information about this property.
  9. Select Restore archive on failure if you want to restore the archive files from the "recovery" directory if the service restart fails. See Restore archive on failure for more information about this property.
  10. Optional. Add a Stage Command and Command Line parameters if required. See Stage Command for information about this property.
  11. Optional. Select Append Site, Service, and Backup Directory to command line if required. See Stage Command for information about this property.
  12. Click OK.

To Edit a Recovery Stage

  1. Using CygNet Explorer, click on the RSM in the service hierarchy.
  2. In the RSM pane, right-click on the service for which you want to configure recovery and click Properties.
  3. Click the Automatic Service Recovery page.
  4. Click Edit to modify an existing stage.
  5. See steps 5 through 11 above to configure the remaining properties.
  6. Click OK.

Note: An area at the bottom of the dialog box will list the sequence of configured steps that will occur for the recovery stage.
